iPhone4アンテナ問題の検証方法は非科学的＝米専門家が反論【湯川】

　米有力消費者情報誌Consumer ReportsがiPhone4のアンテナに欠陥があるとレポートした問題で、米の専門家が自分自身のブログ上で同誌の実験方法にこそ欠陥があると指摘し話題になっている。

　この専門家Bob Egan氏のブログによると、同氏は電磁気エンジニアとしてキャリアの大半をこうした問題の研究に費やしてきたという。その経験から、Consumer Reportsはたとえ隔離室の中での検査であっても人間がその部屋の中にいたということで「ブロガーがやっているような非科学的な実験の域を出ていない」と結論づけている。

　同氏は「（アンテナに）問題がないと言っているわけではない」とし、より科学的な実験のためには同氏が所有している3個のiPhoneに加え、もう２、３個のiPhoneの実機が必要になるとしている。

　実際には同氏の主張はかなり専門的なので、僕にはよく分かりません。以下に同氏のブログから専門的記述を引用しますので、どなたか専門家の方はぜひ解説してください。

Even the way they seem to have tested the change – by varying the base station simulator levels – seems to assume the iPhone receiver and/or transmitter operate in a linear fashion (the same way) across all signal strengths – bad assumption.
